Weekly Web Review

I have visited the PhET Interactive Simulations on the University of Colorado at Boulder website. Watch different types of molecules form a solid, liquid, or gas. Add or remove heat and watch the phase change. Change the temperature or volume of a container and see a pressure-temperature diagram respond in real time. Relate the interaction potential to the forces between molecules. This is a great simulation for use by teachers and students. On the main page is a list of sample learning goals and topics that this simulator could be used with while teaching different lessons. There is also a list of lesson ideas and links to lesson plans below, they range from elementary level to high school.

Article from ED Compass Magazine

ED Compass Magazine is a great place to read about "SMART" learning in education. I found a very interesting article in this months subscription on pg.6 online called "Smart Solutions in the Early Education Classroom". The creators of SMART products understand the education needs of students being that students learn from participating, collaborating, and demonstrating their knowledge. In this article SMART Creators are informing educators of the new technologies they are making for the early education classroom. There is a new SMART Table Interactive Learning Center that has K-3 learning activities and games. The SMART table has multiuser, multitouch capabilities so students can learn together simultaneously. Smart Notebook also has a library of resources for students. They have also created a SMART Response LE interactive response system that is a useful easy to use tool for students to select their answers on a remote. Last bit of info from this article is that they now have both a SMART Mobile height-adjustable floor stand and a height-adjustable wall mount. Yay! SMART for continuing to find ways to improve the ways young students can interact and learn.
